Home Library

Madison County, VA

Our client purchased a classic 19th Century “two-over-two’ farmhouse.

He updated key areas of the home, such as the kitchen and bathrooms. In the living room, which he designated as the library, and his quiet retreat, he added a bay window, to capture the rolling hills and mountain vistas of Madison County.

All that was left was to make space for his numerous hardbound books, and to add mouldings and other details to bring the space together.

We worked closely with the client to bring to life his vision of a classic early 20th Century Craftsman-style space.

Rough quartersawn white oak was sourced locally and milled, from which all the bookcases, moulding, panels and window seat were fabricated.

The client used a 7-step process to apply the stain and finishes himself.
